Holder Design worked closely with the owners of Serena & Lily to continue their focus on high end interior design and art with the launch of their fifth brick and mortar showroom. The goal of the project was to continue to work with the brand to help them develop an architectural identity for this space that heavily referenced coastal Latin America, while also reflecting the West Coast modern aesthetic of the Newport Beach and Lido Isle region. The new build (converted from a dilapidated Studebaker dealership) showcases generous white plaster walls and simple flooring, which allows for the colorful Serena & Lily products to remain the focus of the buyer. Outdoors, two large rolling gates open to the street, encouraging visitors to relax underneath the delicate white trellis. The shaded “front porch”, with it’s deeply-set weathered teak shutters and front door, stands out against the white plaster of the exterior, creating a cool and inviting refuge reminiscent of coastal Latin America. The interior is open and brightly lit, organized around a large roll-up door which allows for a seamless flow from inside to the out. The result is a space that reflects the coastal cool vibe of the region.
